Before Dartmouth: Gaby Sauza was a four-year letterwinner and two-time state champion in swimming at the Marist School.
Personal: Gaby Sauza is the daughter of Javier and Melanie Sauza and has one brother. At Dartmouth, Gaby plans to study neuroscience to pursue a career in medicine.
I visited the summer before my senior year of high school and loved the atmosphere. Everyone I met was incredibly passionate about their Dartmouth experience, and that didn't seem to be the case at other academically challenging schools.
How long have you been riding and what got you interested in riding?
I was put on a horse as a toddler because my family had a ranch in Mexico, but I didn't take English equitation lessons until 5th or 6th grade. I've ridden on and off since then but always find myself back on a horse!
Tell me something interesting about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates.
Besides horseback riding, my favorite hobby is probably scuba diving, especially night dives! Also, I'm actually a shy person...
What are your future plans, if any?
I'm currently on a pre-med track but am considering the possibility of becoming a large-animal vet (like my great-grandfather!). It's still very early, so I'm not ruling anything out. For now, I just want to enjoy Dartmouth.
