Jill Koclanes is in her third year on the Dartmouth staff as the assistant athletics director of external relations, organizing events and providing communication and stewardship with donors. In her position, she works closely with the varsity coaching staff to ensure the quality and consistency in the Friends Groups donor communications, including newsletters, web pages and emails.
Koclanes is also integral to the planning and coordination of various donor events, among which are team reunions, sports anniversaries, alumni games and postgame receptions. Event details, including invitations, catering, reservations, agendas and particularly budget management fall under her purview.
During the winter season, Koclanes has provided analysis of the men’s and women’s basketball games as part of the broadcast team on 94.5 ESPN Radio. In 2017-18, she was part of a weekly podcast providing a closer look at the Ivy League men’s and women’s basketball seasons.
Prior to her arrival at Dartmouth, Koclanes was on the women’s basketball staff at Northeastern as an assistant coach for the 2014-15 season. She was the Huskies’ recruiting coordinator, creating a comprehensive recruiting plan for the head coach while planning and coordinating all official and unofficial visits for recruits and their families. On the court, she was responsible for skill development of the guards.
From 2010-14, Koclanes was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Loyola Maryland, where she coached the guard play as well. She also worked on opponent scouting, and generated detailed scouting reports for players and coaches, in addition to breaking down game film. In her final season, she added the duties of recruiting coordinator to her plate as well.
Koclanes, formerly Jill Glessner, graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola where she was a four-year student-athlete for the Greyhounds, finishing her career ranked eighth in program history with 265 career assists. As a senior, she averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 33.6 minutes per game en route to First Team All-Metro Atlantic honors in 2007. She also helped Loyola to the 2006 MAAC title game and the conference semifinals in 2007. Koclanes went on to earn her master’s in sports administration from Canisius in 2011. Following her collegiate career, she played three seasons of professional basketball in Europe.
Koclanes is married to the Gail Koziara Boudreaux ’82 and Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Women’s Basketball, Belle Koclanes, and is expecting the couple’s first child this fall.
