Whether on the rugby field or the football field, the men and women of Dartmouth are giving it their all for the Big Green. Junior Milla Anderson helped the women's rugby team continue undefeated on the season with a win at Harvard on Saturday. Classmate Jack Heneghan led the football team to a historic come-from-behind victory over the visiting Yale Bulldogs.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Milla Anderson, Jr., Bell, Calif., Number 8, Rugby
Milla created several turnovers on defense - both in phase play and at set piece. She is an aggressive and smart jumper in the lineout and was able to disrupt if not steal most of Harvard's throw-ins. She had a fantastic workrate, a true grinder on defense, always in support and doing the little things right to set up or support teammates on attack. Milla showed great rugby IQ on Saturday and made great decisions as a leader in our forward pack.
Jack Heneghan, Sr., Atherton, Calif., QB, Football
Senior quarterback Jack Heneghan saved some of his best work on the gridiron for the second half against Yale, helping Dartmouth rally from a 21-point deficit to nip the Bulldogs on Homecoming, 28-27. While he amassed 314 passing yards (his fifth career 300-yard game), 276 of those yards came in the second half as did all three of his touchdown tosses, the last coming with 34 seconds to play for the game-winning score. Heneghan was also named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week and earned honorable mention for the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week as the Big Green overcame their largest deficit to win a game in 136 years of varsity football.
