Q&A with Ian Brackbill

Why Dartmouth?
I chose Dartmouth because of its wide range of opportunity. I feel like I can do anything here. My father also attended Dartmouth, so it's special to share that with him.

How long have you been rowing and what interested you about rowing?

My freshman fall was my first experience rowing. I was interested because my grandfather rowed for the Naval Academy, and he excelled there. The sport means a great deal to him; it's extremely meaningful to pursue something from which he drew such strength and encouragement. I hope to follow his footsteps.

What is something about you that might come as a surprise to your teammates?

I have seven siblings, and I love each one of them.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in on campus?

I'm in the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra. I'm also involved in various Christian groups on campus.

What are your future plans, if any?
I'm on the pre-med track right now, so we'll see how long that lasts. At some point, I'd love to return to Germany and spend an extended period of time there.
